This blog post is for you. In the following post we will explore how researchers go about tracing one’s ancestral roots and why understanding your ancestry may be important. In this article, I’m going to trace some of my own family history back through time in order to provide an example that can help guide those who are just starting out on their own journey into genealogy research.

While I want only to give a basic overview here of what it might take (and what tools and techniques) to find where our ancestors came from, there are plenty of other articles available online which deal with these topics in greater detail.
